So, your little one is ready for their first trip to the dentist! If you’re feeling a bit unsure about when to go and what to expect, you’re not alone.
When Should You Go?
A good rule of thumb is to schedule your child’s first dental visit when they start to grow multiple teeth, or around age 2. This timing helps to set the groundwork for a lifetime of healthy dental habits.

What Happens at the Appointment?
The first dental visit is all about familiarising your child with the dental environment. It’s more about making them feel comfortable, than doing a full examination.
Our friendly team will focus on creating a relaxed atmosphere. We want to introduce your child to the sights, sounds, and even the tools of the dental world without overwhelming them. If your child seems a bit hesitant, we encourage you to hop in the dental chair with them. Your presence can make a huge difference in helping them feel secure.
While we’ll do our best to take a look inside your child's mouth, we completely understand if they’re nervous. Our team is trained to be patient and entertaining, turning what could be a scary experience into a fun one.
The Benefits of Early Visits
Starting dental visits early helps your child get used to the idea of going to the dentist, making future appointments smoother and easier. Regular visits mean we can keep an eye on their teeth and catch any potential issues early on, saving you from more complicated (and costly) treatments down the line.
