Teeth Whitening
Want a brighter, whiter smile? Teeth whitening is a popular and affordable option to brighten your smile. Stains from coffee, wine and everyday foods can dull teeth over time. Professional whitening safely removes these stains, giving you whiter teeth that help you feel more confident when you laugh, talk and smile.
What Is Professional Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening or tooth bleaching is the process of turning yellow or discoloured teeth white.. Before starting a whitening treatment, a dentist will examine your mouth to advise whether the whitening process is right for you.
There are two professional teeth whitening treatment options available at Natural Dentistry:
-
Custom-made take-home teeth whitening kits.
-
In-chair teeth whitening treatments.
Results may vary depending upon the original shade and condition of your teeth, but most people notice an improvement shortly after treatment.
Teeth Whitening FAQs
How many appointments do I need?
Your journey to a brighter smile begins with a consultation. We’ll assess your oral health, tooth shade, and sensitivity to determine the best whitening approach for you.
-
In-chair whitening: Treatment is usually completed in a single visit
-
Take-home whitening: We take scans during your consultation and provide custom-fitted trays at a follow-up appointment.
How long does teeth whitening take?
-
In-chair whitening: Consultation takes 10–15 minutes, and treatment typically lasts 1–2 hours.
-
Take-home whitening: Consultation and scans take up to 20 minutes, and your dentist will guide you on how often to wear your trays for optimal results.
How soon can I eat normally after whitening?
You should avoid staining foods and drinks for the first 48 hours. This includes coffee, tea, red wine, dark-coloured foods, and acidic drinks like fruit juice and alcohol. Your dentist will give you clear aftercare instructions.
What if I have sensitive teeth?
Some sensitivity is normal, but many people with sensitive teeth can have their teeth whitened without pain. At Natural Dentistry, every case is carefully assessed during your consultation to determine the safest and most comfortable option for you.
If sensitivity is a concern, we offer teeth whitening systems without hydrogen peroxide. These advanced formulations are designed to minimise enamel dehydration and nerve irritation, helping reduce the risk of sensitivity while still delivering beautiful, natural-looking results.
How much does teeth whitening cost?
The cost depends on whether you choose in-chair whitening or a take-home whitening kit. Prices can vary, book a consultation to decide the best option for you.
Is teeth whitening at home safe?
Teeth whitening at home is a convenient way to brighten your smile, but there are safe and not-so-safe ways to go about it. At Natural Dentistry we offer a take-home whitening system that uses dental grade products and a custom fit whitening trays in some cases.
There are over-the-counter versions of whitening systems, toothpastes and gels, but they are not as effective as professional teeth whitening systems and may not give you the results you want. We recommend you discuss any questions you have about teeth whitening with your dentist.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Results vary depending on lifestyle and habits, but many patients enjoy whiter teeth for several years. We also offer home touch-up kits to help maintain your results for longer.
